History abounds in this neighbourhood. Takhini is one of the areas that the Canadian military chose to build housing for their personnel stationed in the Yukon around WW2. The original Military Headquarters have been repurposed and are currently used as office space for the Government of Canada and one of the barracks buildings has been transformed into rental apartments. As you explore the streets of Takhini, you will notice there is a mix of older duplexes built in the 50’s and newer homes. Many of the military duplexes have been renovated into cute family homes. In honour of our veterans, many of the streets in Takhini were named after battles in WW2.
